Passeig del Born
Passeig del Born is a delightful avenue leading from Santa Maria del Mar church to the Born market. During the Middle Ages jousting tournaments were held here., and Don Quijote passed through Passeig del Born.
The numbered cannonballs under the benches along the avenue are in memory of the 1714 siege of Barcelona that concluded the 14-year War of the Spanish Succession, leading to the tearing down more than 900 houses, about a fifth of the city at that time, as punishment.
Warning, the terrace bars at the far end are exorbitant.
